Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Transport and Infrastructure Systems IVI and STW (Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH), AS-Motor is presenting a special innovation at this year’s demopark in Hörselberg near Eisenach. A fleet of RC mowers – consisting of three AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC – will be on display in the innovation area of the exhibition center, which will process a defined green area fully automatically.

At the demopark, AS-Motor, the Fraunhofer IVI and Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH will be presenting three professional RC ride-on mowers that work together on green spaces – even on rough terrain – fully automatically. It will be shown how a „driver“ operates and monitors the three AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC ride-on mowers and in this way not only achieves three times the area coverage, but can also work more precisely and with less fatigue. Depending on the application, he can manage the mower fleet directly on site or remotely – e.g. B. from the office – activate.

A key technology is the control tower software helyOS ® (highly efficient online yard operating system), which was developed at the Fraunhofer IVI with the aim of efficiently developing, testing and using autonomous mobile machines. From small to large projects, helyOS ® acts  as a central hub for connecting, controlling and monitoring machine fleets via a local network or the cloud. Trucks and agricultural machinery can already be networked and automatically controlled with the helyOS ® Control Tower software . Now the digital control station also delivers missions for professional lawn mowers.

Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH provides the vehicle-side technologies for control center integration. The connectivity module TCG-4 from STW (Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH) is used to network the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD with helyOS®. The Linux-based control unit is also responsible for vehicle automation. The driving orders are received and processed by helyOS® via WLAN or LTE. For this purpose, a navigation controller determines suitable control signals based on the actual and target position and transmits them to the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD via the CAN bus.

Dare to take a look into the future with us and visit the innovation area (near the lawn competence tent) at demopark from June 18th to 20th, 2023 in Hörselberg near Eisenach. We would also be happy to advise you at our booth E595.
